Bird Song Mimic is an installation where participants are engaged to listen and respond to bird songs or other people mimicking bird songs. The goal is to have audiences listen and relate to the acoustic world of birds in ways they otherwise might not. The Mimic is part of a larger VR immersive project “Bird Song Diamond” created over a period of five years (2011-17) by the Art | Sci collective at UCLA, in collaboration with evolutionary biologist Charles Taylor, engineer Hiroo Iwata, physicist Takashi Ikegami and their laboratories.
